Historic Home Staging - Before and Afters

It's no secret that I haven't met an old home that I don't love.

Show me an expanse of hardwoods, some thick wood trim, a butler's pantry, and a claw foot tub and I'm hooked!  When I tour a historic home I see potential for days.  However, many home buyers are overwhelmed by old homes...especially vacant ones.  That's why buyers absolutely benefit from targeted staging because it helps them understand the scale of the rooms, the purpose of each space, and how the house will look when it turns into their home.

The only downside to staging a big, old house is that it can be expensive (big spaces mean more furniture and more furniture means more expense).  In addition, the staging items need to be just right.  Filling a vacant old home with modern accessories or furniture can be completely jarring.  So, it's all about finding the right balance.

In a recent home that I staged we tried to accentuate the positive in each room without filling all the spaces with furniture (to keep the cost down).  I think you'll see that the end result celebrates all the wonderful features of the home and provides just enough visual interest and warmth to make the house super appealing!

Staging a House I'd Like to Move Into

Every once in awhile, I fall instantly in love with a house.  From the second I walk in, I begin to devise a plan to convince my family that we should pack up everything and move in.

That's exactly the feeling I had when I saw this house.  It's a traditional Tudor-style house filled with a ton of updates and upgrades.  We spent the day staging it, so I have a good feeling about all its ins and outs.  I've put together some before and after pictures for you to check out.  I'm sure you'll agree...I should just buy it!
